North Melbourne Market

The girls from Thread Den will be running another North Melbourne Market day on Sunday 28th of February. They have a new website and it will be running every second month this year. The market is at the Lithuanian Club on Errol Street in North Melbourne and runs from 10am - 2pm. I'm a bit sad I will miss this one and Gareth will get all the fun because it really is a great market.

From a stall holders perspective the market is run super well. They say hello when you come in so you know who they are, and they walk around the market all day making sure it is running smooth. The other good thing about it is the people who come along, I've had so many lovely funny chats, ran into people I've not seen for a while and thoroughly enjoyed the community spirit. Plus the stalls are great, there is a mix of cute handmade craft and vintage loveliness and the venue has a nice intimate feel. So pop along and say hello, we will be next door to Record Attempts as you walk in the front door.

Get away from the phone Ginnifer!

Gareth got me the zine/book Applicant by Jesse Reklaw for Christmas. Our love for Jesse Reklaw began in the Northcote Plaza some 6 or 7 years ago when Gareth found Slow Wave: Dream Toons in a bookshop there. For months I tried having a dream worthy of sending him and finally it happened. For those of you wondering who was the hitman, it was none other than Ron Livingston. We were watching a lot of Office Space at the time. Back to Applicant, the book is full of PhD applicant's photos with a funny comment made by their supervisors. Jesse found it in a bin and turned it into a zine and Gareth got it for 'card ideas'.

This guy above has the best paisley scarf, and the prettiest face I've ever seen. And I am sure if Ginnifer had a guy like this after her he would send her a love letter in the mail, so she would end up out waiting by the mailbox rather than the telephone. The card is on Etsy and will all be at our three markets this coming week. If you're in Melbourne and need a Valentine's Day Card you can get us at:

Het Nieuwsblad

We were recently contacted about featuring our cards in a Belgium newspaper, Het Nieuwsblad. I was rather excited because back in '98 I was an exchange student in Gent and remember the paper from when I was there. I think they might have a bit of a thing for the word blad, because they changed my name so it includes it. I remember having a conversation about names when I lived in Belgium and a group of us Australians thought Stijn was an interesting name due to the meaning stain has here. The Belgians told us that they thought the name Mark was also weird for the same reason!

Have you ever fallen for someone after dreaming about them? This card is all about that, and a chance to feature ice cream in a card! She is available on Etsy and also at our Rose Street stall this weekend. We will also be at the Sisters' Market in Brunswick on Saturday 13th of February for those of you wanting a last minute Valentine's Day card. We have heard lots of good things about the market and are looking forward to it.
