Hello Sunshine!

I'm one of those annoying people that complain as soon as the weather gets below 20 degrees. Gareth always tells me to harden up because where he comes from 20 degrees is a heat wave. So when we found out we were going to Brisbane I was pretty excited, just because it will (hopefully) be warm. Proper warm!

Brisbane Finders Keepers will be held at the Old Museum on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of June. They have just announced who will be participating and it includes some great people, including our Rose Street pal Jarren from Temono (my Dad has one of his belts), Pippijoe and Liana Kabel. So if you're in Brissy you have to come by, if the Sydney market in December is anything to go by it will be a great event.

Dear Terry Wogan

So this weekend is Eurovision weekend. All this talk of Eurovision made me realise that there are probably no cards out there that are Eurovision based, so I decided to make one. Coming up with the outfits was rather exciting, then The Age Online put up some photos and I realised I can't compete with silver sparkly hot pants - and that was for the boys! Our lovely couple, from that small European country you can't remember the name of, are singing a skip-pop hop jazz infused number with some choreography by this guy. Nice.

Pussy bows and turtle necks

With a few of our cards we have a boy and a girl version of the same card. Our Mix Tape, Massive Crush and Amazing Race cards have always had a boy and a girl version and we have future plans to make sure we have both a boy and girl version for our romantic range. I'm trying to get into the habit of drawing both a guy and a girl for all our new cards and pretending that they are dating one another. Our new fact cards have a lovely boy and girl on them. The guy is bringing turtle necks back in vogue, and the girl is rocking the pussy bow in pink and blue.

Little Paper Lane

If you live on the northern beaches of Sydney a lovely new paper boutique has opened up in Mona Vale. Little Paper Lane is located on Pittwater Road and judging by the picture, it is one of those shops that are full of things that make you oooh and aaaah. Sometimes I feel a little sad we can't just pop in and visit the shops that stock our cards, but it is nice to see lovely photos like this. If you are in the area pop in and say hello, I know if I was starting a new shop it would totally make my day.

Is that Kima, Bunk and McNulty?

We have all been in this situation. A friend goes for a trip overseas and needs to off load all their stuff and you are there, willing to lend a hand. A hand which means:
-wok that is better than the one you are currently using
-tea pot better than the one you are currently using
-a nice professionally made silk screen
-guitar hero

So you really do wish your friend was back in town, but it is kinda like Christmas when you get all the loot! This card is available on our Etsy shop and at Rose Street this weekend.

Wow of a time!

Last year my friend Bridget threw a party that was one of the best parties I've been to. The theme for the party was board games and the house was full of all sorts of games, including the Harry Potter Levitation Game. There was lots of fun, drinking, playing and talking to be had and I can well and truly say I had a wow of a time, even though I didn't end up with a lamp shade on my head. I know that sending a thank you card after going to someones place isn't the done thing anymore, but we made this card to try and buck the trend. The card is up on Etsy now!

Dan Aykroyd would be proud

Coming up to winter is the time when everyone gets sick. Twitter and Facebook feeds are full of people talking head colds, chest colds, runny noses and blocked sinus. Gareth and I often seem to escape the sickness and I put it down to never going out and watching a lot of TV. Okay, maybe not entirely true but in any case we count ourselves lucky and I'm currently touching my wooden desk. Up until today we only had one get well card, which is pretty pathetic considering we make cards.

This one came about after Bridget, Gareth and I talked about get well cards and cone heads. I think the thing I like the best about this card is the PJs. They are those over sized men's flanny ones that are soft, but too long in the leg so you end up tripping up whenever you walk around the house in them. A cold hard reminder that you should not be wearing them at 2pm in the afternoon (unless of course you are sick!). The card is available on Etsy and at Rose Street this Saturday and Sunday.

I'm a survivor

With the finale of Survivor just airing in the US a few hours ago, I'm super excited about finding out who wins Season 20: Heroes v Villains. Gareth and I love Survivor and I've loved it from the moment it first aired back in 2000 and amused my housemates in the second season (Australia) when I took notes.

Gareth and I often talk about how we would like to see a season with actors playing characters from different TV shows. I am sure it would be a logistical nightmare, but can you imagine watching McNulty from The Wire trying to align with Sue Silvester from Glee while they blindside George Costanza from Seinfeld? So what we want to know is who would you like to see on this crazy TV character Survivor? I don't think it really matters how old the show is, although I am sure Lucille Ball might have a few confusions about why a TV camera is following her around on an island.

The new card is available on Etsy, as well as our weekly markets. And if you're a fan and want to email me about the show, please feel free!

I Tues Tues Choose You!

We have been a bit busy the last few weeks so have not put any Tues Tues Choose You posts up. But we have so much fun using funny, silly and odd quotes to come up with new cards we didn't want to forget about it. So this Tuesday we have the lovely Christina Aguilera telling us all about the type of guy she wants. Somehow I resisted the urge to make yet another card about cats, and went for the bad boy in the quote.

The new card is available on Etsy as well as our usual Rose Street stall this weekend. Also, this Thursday we will be at Revolver Designer Market from 6pm-10pm selling our wares alongside Kirsteene from Scrumption Productions. I have a feeling we will spend the whole 4 hours talking season three of Madmen.

Crazy Cat Lady

So those of you that know me know I am a bit crazy about cats. My obsession is mainly fueled by our lack of cat due to renting, so any chance I get to see or talk cats I will take. I had looked up cat shows in Melbourne after Gareth got this t-shirt a few months back and knew there was a big one coming up in May, but because it was on over the weekend it didn't work with our market schedule. My friend sent me the details after seeing the article in The Age's Melbourne magazine on Friday and after a negotiation with Gareth (easy when he gets to sit next door to Record Attemps at Rose Street on Sunday) to run our stall for a few hours I got to go to the cat show.

It was all a bit nusto, so many cats in one room, so many crazy cat people in one room. I went with Sally, who has a stall at Rose Street on Saturday and she was a great cat companion to put up with my never ending "oh my, look at this one" chatter. I have no idea how they judge the shows, I find that part all a bit odd. The 'aiming for perfection' with the breeding is strange and something I'm not 100% sure about, all cats are lovely right? But I tried to put that out of my head and enjoy a room with over 200 cats inside.

If you saw the article in The Melbourne Magazine you might recognise Ice Princess in the picture below. The owner John was really lovely and let us ask him lots of questions about the show and his cat, who unsurprisingly, is a bit of a princess. After totally going cat show crazy and being on a cat high I have made a card based on the show and the award of supreme rosette, awarded to best in show cat. I think it is a great card to give to your special someone and I know it is a card I would give to Gareth in a flash!
