Mum is handy!

I know I've spoken before about how my Mum comes up with some pretty good card ideas. Today she was on MSN with a goldmine of an idea from her goldmind! I think this card is her subtle way of telling me the best Mother's Day gift I can ever give her is grand kids. Although I'm sure anyone over 25 probably feels the pressure from ma and pa to start to procreate? Surely I'm not the only one! This new Able and Game card is available on Etsy.

Fresh, Simple and Local

As Gordon Ramsay would say, fresh local ingredients cooked simply. Or he would just drop the f-bomb and call you a fatty. In any case this card is one of our more simple designs, direct and to the point. Able and Game also have a boy version and if you're more of a mom type of person, you can request different spelling.

It is just aquatic chicken!

When I was little I wasn't a big fan of tuna, but it was a regular meal at our house. My Mum knew I was just being fussy and used to tell me it was just aquatic chicken so I would eat it. Apparently it worked very well and I would often request it.

During our teenage years my brother, sister and I would often complain when tuna casserole was on the menu. Once we had left home I remember Mum telling me my sister requested it for dinner when she went back and I thought it was interesting that once we left home it was something we really missed. I've spoken to other people and they say the same thing, they all missed it the most when they left home, but didn't like it much growing up. This new Able and Game card is now available on Etsy, just in case your Mum doesn't know your feelings on her cooking.

Fancy a dip?

Maybe this card should read: “thanks for scaring me half to death” because I got pretty scared when my Mum did this to me as a child. However I can now swim and don’t have a fear of going for a dip in the ocean, so I ended up all right. My memory of this was on the Ninety Mile Beach in East Gippsland and Gareth’s is from the south of France. Birds, trees and Mother's Day glee!

Gareth and I looked in our diary and realised how soon Mother's Day is in the UK and Ireland when you take into account the 7-10 days for cards to arrive on time. While I should be spending all day drawing sweet and charming Mums I took a little break to draw this birdy card. It will be part of a new range of Able and Game cards featuring birds and flowers for when you want a pretty card that doesn't have an occasion attached to it.

What's Next? Mother's Day!

With the sickly feeling of too much chocolate and too much love almost worn off we look forward and ask what is next for Able and Game? Mother's Day is the answer of course. With the special day sprinkled across the year for different countries we have already started listing them. In Australia Mother's Day is on the 10th of May, however for Gareth it is right around the corner as he is from Scotland and the UK celebrate Mother's Day next month, on March the 22nd. We have three cards already available on Etsy with more designs in the works.
